Ahead of the 2019 Hixon Forest Epic, RAH members worked with the Outdoor Recreation Alliance to create a world-class trail experience
Continuing the ongoing club project of helping maintain the Upper Hixon Forest trails and gardens, RAH made the most of its second July service event. After a short safety briefing from the Hixon Forest Epic race organizers, RAHtarians teamed up with ORA members for a handful of hands-on projects. While some got an epic shoulder workout raking up debris, others worked to beautify the butterfly gardens that make Hixon such a scenic spot. Club members also played with the dirt--widening some spots of the mountain bike trails and creating a smoother surface for the hundreds of riders racing in the event. Instant feedback from some cyclists enjoying the summer evening proved that RAH was on the right track with its service.

Making the most of the seasonable conditions, those who participated in the service were rewarded with a social grill-out complete with music from our own club DJ, Paul LaCount. Beverages, burgers and hot dogs refueled the body while camaraderie refreshed the Rotary spirit. Thanks to all who made it another successful evening!
